Atlantic Blue Crab (Callinectes sapidus)
The Atlantic Blue Crab is a species of crab native to the waters of the western Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. They are bottom dwelling scavengers and thrive in the mud and sand bottoms along shallow water regions. For inshore applications around bridges and fast moving currents for targeting permit and tarpon. On the flats, a large blue crab can be peeled, trimmed, and cut into quarters. Even in the darkest waters foraging drum will sniff out this incredible enticement. In the deep, a large blue crab can be split in half and soaked on the bottom for hungry grouper and cobia. Also a great bait for redfish, black drum, hogfish, and sheepshead!
